2013/10/4 - NEW Product Release - Harken Captivating New Winch
Harken Equips Boats 13.7-18 m (45-60 ft) with a Captivating New Winch Pewaukee, WI¡ªCaptive Reel Winches are popular on megayachts and larger racer/cruisersfor their ability to provide effortless trimming and an uncluttered deck. And now, Harken has released two Electric Captive Reel Winches for smaller yachts. These powerful but compact electric units raise and lower halyards or trim and ease sheets¡ªall at the touch of a button. 1.5-ton and 3-ton units trim up to 12 or 13 meters of line per minute, respectively. Built with lightweight but strong 6061-T6 aluminum, these electric winches can be installed belowdeck to lower the center of mass and make the deck cleaner and easierto navigate. The controls are straightforward with simple ON/OFF switches for each direction. All parts connected to electrical circuitry are positioned on the same side for maintenance. The self-lubricating screw bearings and gear transmission are alsolocated on this side for easy inspection. Mechanical systems prevent overtravel and stop slacked lines from paying out. The design positions the screw close to the drum, reducing winch size. Harken offers12-and 24-volt systems.
